Ride are one of my favourite bands along with The Beatles, The Stone Roses, Smashing Pumpkins and Clouds. I was lucky enough to see Ride live in Melbourne at The Palace in St Kilda in 1992. The so called 'shoe gazer' sound is one of my favourites, the dense layers can transport you, and reveal things over time. I like some other 'shoe gazer' songs/bands, but Ride are the masters. Although listening to My Bloody Valentine reveals a probable influence. "Going Blank Again" is my favourite Ride album, but the others are very good too. I have the four main albums plus Smile and the "Twisterella" single. Thanks to Ride for many hours of musical pleasure.

Remember first seeing Ride in Jan/Feb 1990 after reading a small review in the NME. Drove up to Oxford and was blown away by them, the first band that I got really into. Met Sara Whiteside, straight after the gig, had prebooked a flight to Australia for 6 week. However, once back went straight off for the Ride tour and met up again with Sara on the first date. This was the start of one of the best periods of my life. As we progressed through each tour we met up with lots of people who were also massive Ride fans. I would dearly love to get in touch with them again, so if on the off change they are reading this please email me Sara, Alison, Marguerite and others which I'm sorry I can't remember their names, but you may remember me. Oh is there any truth to the rumour that Rid are reforming again this year???

hi, im in an oxford band who have shoegaze elements to it, i went to the same school as ride (cheney school in headington)and i'm pleased to see theres still a place for ride, as people in oxford nowadays don't know who they are, or don't even know they existed, i just hope they play a home coming gig someday at the oxford carling academy, with mark osprey as support

I remember listening to carnival of light and feeling a little underwhelmed particuarly as Birdman, Let's get lost and Don't let it die had been released and were all great tracks, I still can't understand how the latter 2 didn't make it on the album particuarly let's get lost which sounded so retro anyway. When Oasis released live forever I couldn't help thinking that should have been Ride, a progressive sound with a retro nod to the beatles/the who. Splitting the album into side 1 Mark songs and Side 2 Andy songs didn't help the album to dovetail either. Will ring Cannock soon.

Yes I think the retro stuff seemed realy bizarre at the time. I remember an interview in nme when they were talking about glam rock influence pre carnival LP. Also a bit of Pink Floyd in there (At the end of the universe). Give us a bell at cannock.

Yes i'm from the Pets at home Ride appreciation society, good to talk to someone who appreciates good music! could talk about Ride for ages, would love them to reform but can't see it. Living in Oxford as I did in the early 90s was a good time and I must have played Nowhere and GBA thousands of times.Never really understood the direction of Carnival of light, could have really expanded on the musical direction of GBA but played the retro music line and allowed Oasis to steal the limelight. The opening chords of seagull, drive blind and unfamiliar remind me of how great Ride were and Black Nite Crash could have been the great comeback with label backing, publicity and of course the little matter of the band not splitting up. Come on guys get back together as their is definitely unfinished business and how about the much talked about live dvd?
